Niki joined the Ecotrust Canada team in January, 2001 as Administrative Assistant. Currently she supports the accounting department and the economic development lending program. Niki has a Masters degree in English Literature from the University of Guelph (1996), and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and English from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario (1993). Her Masters thesis explored the value of learning and honouring (without exploiting or misrepresenting) traditional North American First Nations' principles in our current ecological crisis. Interested in examining literature’s function as a catalyst for social change, Niki compared the strategies used by Native Canadian authors to communicate traditional First Nations' ecological ethics, spiritual values, and worldviews. Prior to joining Ecotrust Canada, Niki gained valuable knowledge of complementary natural healing methods and remedies at a local natural pharmacy, where she worked as the bookkeeper after moving to the west coast in 1997.
