Ecotrust Canada announces new Prince Rupert office

Ecotrust Canada is pleased to introduce Devlin Fernandes who, as of January 18th, will staff our new Prince Rupert office. Devlin has a Masters in Forest Conservation and experience in natural resource management and analysis, community consultation, and legislation analysis. Devlin is returning to Prince Rupert from Victoria, where she worked as a Research Officer for the Ministry of Forest and Range, Aboriginal Affairs Branch.

“One of Devlin’s key focus areas will be working with First Nations and North Coast communities as well as industry, to explore local alternatives for sustainable fisheries,” says Tasha Sutcliffe, Ecotrust Canada’s Fisheries Program Manager. “She’ll be working on locally designed strategies for diversification of fishing opportunities and new fishing community ownership models.”

Ecotrust Canada’s Skeena Program seeks to address how fishing-dependent communities can re-invent their approach to marine resource use, and create a sustainable fishing industry within a changing environment.
